About Me

My name is Autumn Raborn, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Tennessee. I am native to the Nashville area but currently reside in Rutherford County. I obtained my Masters in Professional Counseling in 2016 from MTSU. Since then I’ve worked in a variety of treatment settings mainly focused on providing individual counseling to adults. I started teletherapy at the start of the pandemic and fell in love with providing counseling this way. I find that teletherapy helps my clients feel more comfortable being in their own environment, reduces their treatment anxiety, and it saves us both the headache of dealing with traffic! In addition, teletherapy is proven to be just as effective as in-person counseling for a wide range of mental health issues.

As a therapist, I like to take my time really getting to know my clients. It is often the smallest piece of the puzzle that can bring clarity to bigger issues. I will ask you a lot of questions about how your brain works and how you process emotions. For example, maybe you are a visual thinker seeing your worries manifest in 3-D images that feel like watching your own personal horror movie. Or maybe you are a more auditory thinker where your thoughts get really loud and overwhelming making it hard to concentrate. Others experience emotions primarily in their bodies with lots of tension headaches and an upset stomach. I find identifying this information to be vital in helping my clients progress with tailored treatment that fits how they experience the world and themselves.

I am a creative problem solver. I challenge my clients to identify the root of the problem and break all the “rules” in trying to resolve it. Most of my clients have already tried a variety of ways of dealing with their mental health before meeting me. Sometimes just having another person brainstorm new ideas makes all the difference.

I am a secular counselor, but I am open to discussing ideas of how to incorporate religion and spirituality as a part of your self-care if this is a topic of importance.

Therapy can be a great way to build new habits, process negative thoughts and feelings, and learn new skills to address life’s challenges. Counseling is similar to going on a road trip -you are in the driver’s seat steering the way and making all the choices. I am in the passenger seat offering directions, snacks, and encouragement. My goal for us is to create a safe space for growth, empowerment, and authenticity.
